Hammond's BBQ has been serving up authentic Texas barbecue in Glen Rose since 1966. What started as a simple backyard pit built by A.J. and Liz Hammond. It has grown into a beloved local institution with over 58 years of smoky, slow-cooked tradition in part due to the love and 25 years of dedication from Larry and Judy Higgins and their children Heather and Charlie. Built on a foundation of family recipes, community values, and a whole lot of pecan smoke, Hammond's is more than just a restaurant — it's a landmark of Texas flavor. Over the decades, generations of locals and travelers alike have gathered at our tables to enjoy tender brisket, juicy ribs, and classic Southern sides that taste like home. Our commitment to quality and hospitality has made us a staple in Glen Rose and a favorite stop for those passing through town.

In October 2023, Hammond's BBQ entered an exciting new chapter under new ownership of Robby and Chasidy Pettigrew. While ownership has changed, the heart of what makes Hammond's special remains the same — a dedication to serving real Texas barbecue with genuine, down-home service. The current owners are proud to carry on the Hammond's legacy, honoring the time-tested techniques and flavors that have made the restaurant what it is today. We're continuing to smoke our meats low and slow, serve our sides fresh, and welcome every guest like family. As we build on over half a century of tradition, our goal is to keep the spirit of Hammond's alive for future generations to enjoy.
